A bail fund is an organization that collects money for the purpose of posting cash bail for those in jail awaiting trial. Community bail funds determine their own criteria for eligibility and amount of bail that they will support.  Bail funds in cities across the country are organized in different ways. Ours is a grassroots, volunteer-run coalition that relies on crowdsourced, community-based funds to pay bail for those who are unable to afford it. We also work in partnership with recently released people and their loved ones to secure housing, food, transportation and access to mental and physical health services.
